Malolos Thunders bag 2nd Runner-up Trophy!

STI Basketball Showdown 2012

STI College Malolos Thunders defeated STI College Global City yesterday (March 18, 2012) via 89-61 at the conclusion of the 12th STI Basketball Showdown at the STI Academic Center, Taguig City. The trophy was awarded to the team by Mr. Mhel Garrido, head of the basketball tournament, during the half-time break of the STI College Balagtas-STI College Sta. Rosa championship game.

From start to finish, the Malolos 5 pumped the gas at both ends of the floor. Jonathan Teraña, Levy Pineda, Alvin Detubio, Carlo Jimenez, Jojo Quetua, Dirk Victoria and RA Catahan led the charge in the first half for a 47-27 lead. The Global City cagers tried to comeback in the 3rd period cutiing the lead to 14 points. But the Malolos Thunders answered back with 3-point shots from Jimenez, Teraña and Pineda, and never-say-never drive and follow-ups from Detubio, Catahan, Quetua and Victoria . Even the other players contributed in the assault in the final half of the game.

This is the first year of the Malolos Thunders in this tournament.
